The drawing standard is stored in the drawing upon the creation, this standard 'copy' is kept independently this means it will not automaticly update when the standard settings of CATIA change. As an example you can take the "Callout Arrow Type". If an "open" arrow type is defined by default in the standard of CATIA by the time of drawing creation you will keep this default setting in this particular drawing even if administrator changes the callout arrow type defaults in CATIA to "filled".
This may lead to inconsistent behaviour of drawings during editing (one proposes you the open and one the filled arrow by default). This behaviour can be eliminated by "Updating" the standard on the particular drawing manually. This will not change the already used features, but will align the future default behaviour to the current standard setting.
